Description

Time period covered by the data collection
The data set covers the years 2004 through 2019. OVD-Info updates the data set every year on their website. Depending on this, the data on Discuss Data will also be regularly updated.

Data sources and data collection
OVD-Info received the region-based data of verdicts under Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences from a copy of the federal repository of statistical data of the Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. The statistics are available only for the consideration of cases under this article as a whole, without dividing it into separate parts.
In the organization’s calculations for the number of verdicts per 100.000 inhabitants, OVD-Info used data from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on the population of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. For the period from 2010 to 2019, the population data for January 1 were taken from the Russian language article “Population of the subjects of the Russian Federation” in Wikipedia, which refers to Rosstat. Population data for 2004-2009 are taken from the “Demographic Yearbook of Russia”.
The codebook lists all variables in the data set.
