Description

This data set contains information on various forms of repression directed against the 2017/18 presidential campaign of Russian opposition politician Aleksey Navalny. It lists date, location, and various features of the repressions, such as type, target, and actor. The unit of analysis is the act of persecution; the data set covers overall 2141 such instances.
The data set is in table form (.csv) and in Russian language (except the variable names).
The data set covers the period of Aleksey Navalny’s presidential campaign, which lasted from December 13, 2016, when he announced to run for president in the 2018 elections, through March 18, 2018, the actual election day. The first instance of repression was recorded on January 19, 2017, the last on March 18, 2018.
The data collection is based on information obtained from publications on the OVD-Info website.
