Ukrainian War Refugees Abroad
Fifth Wave of Survey Data (2022-2026)
Version 1.3, published: March 16, 2026.
Description
This data collection contains updated data from the 5th survey wave of Ukrainian refugees abroad conducted in December 2025 – January 2026 by the Centre for Economic Strategy (CES). The data provides information about Ukrainian refugees who fled abroad due to the full-scale Russian invasion and their socio-demographic profile, their integration into the host country and their intentions for the future.
The sample size was 1000 people. Respondents were recruited partly through SMS messaging to “Kyivstar” and “Vodafone” numbers (62%) and partly through online recruitment via the online panel of the Info Sapiens research agency (38%) using email invitations with a link.
Representativeness was ensured through geographical quotas for the distribution of Ukrainians abroad based on data from the European Statistical Office, as well as official data on the number of Ukrainians who have moved to the UK, Canada and the United States. Recruitment and surveys did not include Ukrainians in Russia or Belarus.
The data for the four previous waves of surveys (November-December 2022, April-May 2023, December 2023-January 2024, November-December 2024) is available in previous versions of this dataset.
The survey data is available in a separate .sav file and also .xlsx file. In addition, the questionnaires and codebooks are available in separate files (in Ukrainian and English). This dataset also includes a report by CES with the general findings of the latest survey.
All five waves of the survey were conducted by the research agency “Info Sapiens”, were commissioned by the Centre for Economic Strategy and funded by the International Renaissance Foundation.
