Wave 5
Version 1.0, published: Feb. 23, 2026.
Description
The fifth wave of the Panel Study of Russian Public Opinion and Attitudes (PROPA) was conducted online (October 10 – October 27, 2025; N=2,676). The respondents were recruited through the online marketplace panels. The survey gathers insights from a wide demographic cross-section of the Russian society, providing a snapshot of the attitudes, economic perceptions, and political allegiances of Russian citizens. The panel component includes 817 respondents.
Participants are Russian citizens aged 18 and over residing in Russia at the time of collection. On average, participants completed the survey in 23 minutes.
The dataset includes detailed socio-demographic measures (gender, age, region, settlement type, postal code, city name, education, ethnicity, religiosity and church attendance, occupation, and household material situation), as well as economic evaluations (satisfaction with personal and national economic conditions and concern about rising prices). It captures political engagement and media trust (interest in Russian politics, frequency of political discussion, trust in online and television news), perceived support for Vladimir Putin in respondents’ social circles and in Russia overall, and institutional approval of the President, Government, and State Duma, along with trust in Russians who left after 24 February 2022 and approval of Putin’s activities. War-related items record personal or family participation in the war (SMO), support for the war, preferences regarding continuing military action versus peace negotiations, VPN use, and perceived safety of participating in war-related surveys. Finally, the dataset includes a comprehensive battery on sources of political information.
Dataset is in .csv and .sav format. Codebook is in .pdf format.
