Assessment by the Local Population of the Socio-Political Situation in the Kharkiv Region (2021)
Regional public opinion survey from 1 to 13 July 2021
Version 1.0, published: Aug. 2, 2025.
Description
A representative survey was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation in cooperation with the Centre for Political Sociology from 1 to 13 July 2021.
The surveys include questions assessing how the local population perceives the socio-political situation in the Kharkiv region, particularly electoral attitudes, views on the COVID-19 pandemic, the influence of local elites, protest sentiment, attitudes towards language policy and decommunisation, and media consumption habits.
A total of 1,000 respondents were interviewed face-to-face: 500 respondents from a representative sample of the Kharkiv region and 500 respondents from a representative sample of the city of Kharkiv.
Both samples are representative by gender, age, type of settlement, and area of residence. The maximum sampling error, excluding the design effect, does not exceed 4% at a 95% confidence level.
The datasets include the original survey data in SPSS format (.sav), available in both Ukrainian and English, with separate files for the population of Kharkiv region and Kharkiv city. Identical data have also been exported to Excel (.xlsx) files. The survey methodology and questionnaire are provided in the "Documentation" section (PDF files) in both English and Ukrainian.
