Description
This dataset comprises data about the archival collections held by the Russian State Archive of Contemporary History (RGANI). It has been acquired through web scraping of the online catalog system at https://projects.rusarchives.ru/rgani_db/data/fonds.php and the respective pages for the archival descriptions (opisi). The RGANI holds collections of documents of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, including materials of party conferences, plenary sessions of the Central Committee (CC), materials concerning the Politburo, the Secretariat of the CC, the CC apparatus and related organizational bodies. The focus on the documents kept in RGANI is on the decades from the 1950s to 1991.
The main rationale is to provide an overview of the RGANI collections, in case that the online catalog will not be available any more for use in countries outside of the Russian Federation. As of today (March 2024) the official websites of RGANI (https://rusarchives.ru/federal/rgani and https://ргани.рф) are not accessible for example from Germany any more.
The materials have been collected in September 2022 and are provided as raw data in CSV and JSON formats. Based on the data finding books as PDF documents for every collection (fond) have been created using XeTeX, which are provided as well. Taken together these finding books comprise several thousand pages.
Data has been collected for all RGANI collections which were available at the time of data collection, in particular these are the fondy 1-6, 9-14, 20, 52, 68, 70, 72, 74-77, 80-84, 89, 91-93, 95-105, 107, 109-113, 115, 117, 119, 121.
